Northend Colts 5 Downshire Colts 4   Satyrday 1st March 2025

The young Colts put in a fantastic team performance this week, edging out a thrilling 5-4 victory over a strong Downshire Dynamos side in a match packed with goals, drama, and determination.

The opening period was a fast-paced, end-to-end battle, with both teams creating plenty of chances. Northend took the lead twice through two well-taken goals from Oscar, only to be pegged back each time by a lively Downshire side. As the period went on, we started to take control, with Oscar completing his hat-trick and Conan finishing smartly like a true poacher to give us a two-goal cushion. The action didn’t stop there, as Harrison produced a brilliant penalty save to ensure we went into the break leading 4-2.

The second period saw a slight dip in intensity from Northend, allowing Downshire back into the game. A superb free kick and an unfortunate freak goal brought the score level at 4-4, with the Dynamos growing in confidence. However, Harrison stepped up again with a couple of unbelievable saves, reigniting the team’s energy. The game became a thrilling contest once more, with Oscar, Dara, and Conan constantly threatening in attack, while Daryn-Shae, Bobby, Noah, and Myles provided a strong defensive foundation. The period ended level, but both teams knew there were still more goals to come.

The final period was another intense, end-to-end battle as both teams pushed for a winner. With chances coming at both ends, it was Conan who showed great determination and skill to find the match-winning goal, coolly slotting home when the opportunity came. From that moment, the entire team worked tirelessly to protect the lead, showing great resilience and teamwork to see out the victory. Northend finished as worthy 5-4 winners in a fantastic contest! Full time 5-4

With so many standout performances, it was tough to pick a Player of the Match. Harrison was exceptional in goal with some stunning saves, Bobby drove the team forward from the back, and Conan’s brace included the all-important winner. However, the award goes to Oscar for his devastating display in the first period, scoring a brilliant hat-trick and being a constant threat throughout the game.

Northend Colts 2 Lisburn City 5 Friday 10th January 2025

Northend started brightly and opening the scoring half way through the 1st period. Conan O’Neill won the ball in the midfield and after Daryn-Shae sprayed the ball out right, Jackson Kyle-Cotter slipped Oscar Fagan through, to which the big striker rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner. First period 1-0

Lisburn City hit back from a corner kick before Brett put the Colts ahead for the twice time in the game after good work from O’Neill, Fagan and Noah Wright. Late in the 2nd period, Lisburn scored from another corner. 2-2

In the final period, Myles Hardy, Kavan Kerr and Noah McAleese were defending well against a wave of attacks from their Lisburn opposition. Harrison Moore made a fine save to keep the game all square but was helpless to prevent three quick fire goals in the final 5 mins of the game. FT 2-5

The scoreline suggested that Lisburn were the superior outfit but this was far from the case and on another day The Colts would have bagged all three points. There were a few impressive performances on display with Fagan’s all round centre play a real positive but the coaching panel were all in agreement who selfless team performance edged the POTM decision.
